Sony debuts record 48-megapixel camera sensor for 2019 phones

Cameras with high megapixel counts generally require serious image quality or performance tradeoffs, but Sony is forging ahead with the 48-megapixel IMX586, a sensor that will appear in 2019 smartphones.
